Ambassador of Switzerland meets SibFU students

On June 9, 2015 Ambassador of Switzerland to Russia Pierre Helg had a meeting with SibFU students. Mr Ambassador talked about developing Russian-Swiss relations in history and the role of education in this process.

The year 2014 marked the 200th anniversary since the establishment of relations between the two countries.

In his greeting speech Mr Helg revealed his joy on visiting the University, since the development of education and science is essential for the Russian-Swiss relationship; moreover, SibFU is the largest university in the region and to visit it is a special pleasure.

While discussing collaboration between Switzerland and Russia in the field of science and research, the parties have agreed that in both countries it is important to support young researchers willing to study abroad. 25% undergraduate and 50% postgraduate students in Switzerland come from other countries. All specialists and masters aged under 35 are welcome to come to study in Switzerland, provided that the topic of their research is of interest to a Swiss university.

Besides, the students at the meeting had a chance to find out answers to various questions about Russian-Swiss relations.
