Call for SibFU New Centers of Excellence Fellowship Program

Siberian Federal University (SibFU) calls for an open international competition for the SibFU New Centers of Excellence Fellowship Program.

The program is implemented as a part of the SibFU Competitiveness Enhancement Program (Project “5-100”).

Requirements for applicants

The fellowship program applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • age under 35 years old (on or before the application submission);
  • a degree of candidate of sciences, doctor of sciences, PhD (or equivalent), awarded at least five years before the application submission date;
  • at least 3-year work experience in the field as specified in the application;
  • fluent English language;
  • experience of managing research projects and grants;
  • experience of postgraduates and/or master students research supervising;
  • at least five publications (for the preceding 3 years) in peer-reviewed Web of Science or Scopus data base journals.
  • the applicant is not employed by the University.

To participate in the SibFU New Centers of Excellence Fellowship Program the applicant should submit the following documents:

  • statement of Intent to participate in the fellowship program addressed to the University Rector (.doc);
  • application for participation in the fellowship program (.doc);
  • copies of the applicant’s documents confirming academic degree and academic title;
  • budget estimate complying with the following limits:
    • aggregated total of articles 211, 213 (payroll) and 266 (services agreement) shall not exceed 70 % of funds allocated the grant implementation;
    • monthly payment of the applicant should not exceed 60,000 RUR after paying taxes and excluding possibility of perks paid under the End-of-year bonus scheme;
    • plan of action for the project (.doc);
  • detailed list of supervised master dissertations and postgraduate theses, including the
  • postgraduates’ full names and dates of defense;
  • list of applicant’s major publications over the recent five years;
  • curriculum vitae of the applicant;
  • application/motivation letter of the applicant;
  • list of grants or contracts, ongoing or completed, over the recent five years, in which the applicant has been involved, including its budget and capacity (project manager, contractor).

The application package for participation in the competition shall be submitted to the Competition Commission by e-mail: dia [at] sfu-kras [dot] ru by April 01, 2016 .

Within a month after posting of the results (posting the minutes of the Selection Board Meeting and the Rector’s approval order on the website) the winners are required to set up centers and laboratories mentioned in the application (hereinafter — subdivisions) within the Department of Research and Innovation, SibFU, by developing regulation and job descriptions for the subdivision staff (in compliance with SibFU standard documents).

The information about the results of the Competition will be published on the University web site.

The winners of the Program will:

  • be fully employed at the position of a researcher for the period at least 3 years;
  • get a monthly salary of 60 thousand RUR ;
  • get the reimbursement of the travel expenses;
  • be accommodated in SibFU residence halls (with other family members);
  • get visa support.

Results of the Selection Board decision shall be publicly available at the SibFU website. Reasons for support or waiver of the applicant’s project are confidential.
