International Summer School to be held in Southern Siberia

International Summer School on Siberian Biodiversity and Sustainable Development

September 3 – September 7 2007

Explore the natural environment in southern Siberia as you spend a week at an environmental sciences field school developing your natural resource management and ecological understanding of Siberian natural resources. Topics addressed include Botany, Biodiversity, Hydroecology, Remote Sensing, Sustainable Management.

Location

Students will be transported from Krasnoyarsk (Central Siberia) to the Summer School Camp located in a natural reserve 500 km to the south from Krasnoyarsk. The program includes field work off campus while traveling by ship along the lake created by the Sayano-Shushenskaya dam and hydroelectric station.

Anticipated costs

Tuition, transportation from Krasnoyarsk to the camp site, accommodation and meals are covered by the Siberian Federal University. Travel to Krasnoyarsk, visa, health and travel insurance are the responsibility of the student. Visa support can be provided upon receiving your application. Airfare from Moscow to Krasnoyarsk is approximately $500. Students should budget approximately $600 to cover accommodation costs in Krasnoyarsk, the costs of their meals and travel to sites around Krasnoyarsk.

In case of additional requests SibFU covers all expenditures, including travel costs.

Students should not arrive on the start date listed above as this is the first day of classes. Students should plan to arrive in Krasnoyarsk 3 days before the start date.
