SibFU hosted a round table for the memebers of Siberian expert club to discuss Vladimir Putin's campaign paper 'On Russia's Economic Tasks' published on January 30, 2012.

SibFU's library will become a hub for Siberian major universities. Viktor Tolokonsky, Special Representative of the Russian President for the Siberian Federal District, supported the proposal at a meeting with the SFD Rector Council members.

Dr Irina Gaidasheva, a biotechnologist and the head researcher at SIbFU's Research Centre, has developed 'Laterin', a biopesticide to improve plant growth and protection. The biopesticide might meet the demands of gardeners, farmers and forest specialists.

On December 02, 2011, Sergei Shoigu, Minister of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief of the Russian Federation visited the laboratory of the SibFU Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering equipped with the hardware and software system called «Strelets-Monitoring».

«Squirrel shop» — gift and souvenir shop was opened in Siberian Federal University on November 29, 2011.

The International Conference on Siberian North and Arctic «Global Challenges of the XXI Century» held on November 21-22, 2011 in Siberian Federal University (Krasnoyarsk) gathered almost 200 scientists, government and business officials. More than 50 papers were submitted for the Event.
