The Ministry of Industrial Production and Energy, Krasnoyarsk Krai allocated 9,45 million roubles to support the research, headed by Professor Eugeny Boiko, Director of the Polytechnic Institute, SFU.

Boris Lobastov, first year student from the Institute of Mining, Geology and Geotechnology attended the events that surround the Nobel Prize Award Ceremonies in Stockholm. He was one of the twenty five young researchers invited to Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar, a regular event accompanying Nobel week.

SibFU won the award of the President Programme to provide engineering training courses in 2012-2014. The government support is provided to train engineers working in metallurgy and oil or gas fields.

Strategic meeting of the university senior management discussed SifFU's Development Programme for 2013-2021 on 14-15 December 2012.

'Young Innovator' Competition was completed at SibFU on 12 December 2012. The final stage included 12 projects. The winner is the project by Igor Chuprov, a doctoral student from the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science. The title of the project is 'Energy-efficient, heat conductible paste "THERMALCoRe“: nano structures and carbon materials'

Eugeny Kuzmin, Associate Professor from the Department of Radioelectronics, Institute of Engineering Physics and Radioelectronics, SibFU, has won 2012-2014 competition to receive the RF President scholarship to support young researchers and doctoral students. His project was in the nomination 'Space technologies related to telecommunications including GLONASS and surface infrastructure'.

Toyota Learning Centre will be launched in February 2013. According to SibFU President Alexander Uss, Krasnoyarsk Krai Assembly Chair, the event will coincide with Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum. The timing was discussed during the visit of Krasnoyarsk delegation to Japan in November 2012.

SibFU received the first place in an open public national competition of tertiary educational institutions in the nomination 'Best Russian university to teach students at specialised physical education and sports departments and schools' for 2011/2012 academic year.

SibFU's Kyrgyz alumni have launched their association web site in Kyrgyzstan. The web site will contribute to SibFU's alumni job seeking. It will help future studens from Kyrgyzstan to get education at SIbFU.

Evgeny Ustyugov, a second year master's student from the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Tourism, won the first race of the World Cup in biathlon on 25 November 2012. Evgeny Ustyugov is a member of the RF national team and the mixed relay competition was held in Sweden.
