SibFU's unique study programme (BSc in Biochemical Physics) will be launched in September. Siberian Federal University is one of the five universities in Russia and a single university in Siberia and Russian Far East where the study programme is taught.

SibFU's rector Eugene Vaganov talked to Mingiyan Semyonov, a national team member, before his leaving for London to compete at XXX Summer Olympic Games. Mingiyan Semyonov is a second year student at the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, Siberian Federal University.

TArtem Alsufyev and Natalia Borisova, students from the Institute of Economics, Management and Environmental Sudies attended the G20 Youth Summit in Washington. The Russian delegation included 15 students from nine cities. They are future experts in various fields: from international law to environmental issues.

SibFU opens an elite engineering programme. It aims to raise the quality of engineering education and improve the structure of engineering training. The project will last for two years and it embraces three master's programmes. They are: System Analysis, Metals and Alloys Processing, Computer Aided Design.

Krasnoyarsk regional research foundation has supported SibFU's faculty and staff applications for funding amounting to 25 million roubles in total.

Osamu Shimomura, a prominent researcher and Nobel laureate (Chemistry), has commenced working at Siberian Federal University. Osamu Shimomuru was invited to Krasnoyarsk to act as head of the research project 'Large-Scale Multidisciplinary Research in Bioluminiscent Biotechnologies'.

The international scientific expedition to study the Yenisey river ecosystems will start on 10 June 2012. The expedition includes 18 researchers from Siberian Federal University.

The representatives of Heilongjiang university visited SibFU on 1 June 2012. The parties renewed the agreement on academic exchange. The annual exchange implies that 20-40 students from the Institute of Philology and Language Communication study at Heilongjiang University.
