Big Science for Krasnoyarsk Citizens is a sequel of the SibFU Big Lecture Hall project intended for the mainstream audience: pupils of 10-11th grades, school teachers, students, young scientists and everyone who is interested in matters of modern science. Within the framework of the lecture hall, 14 lectures were held by Russian and foreign scientists, well-known popularizers of science, working in leading universities and scientific laboratories of the world level. The lecture hall suggested possible responses to the challenges posed to the global community by the coronavirus pandemic. The discussion concerned medical, economic and sociological aspects of overcoming the crisis, in particular, the development of anti-COVID vaccines and measures of social support for regions in a situation of temporary economic downturn.

“For us, the preparation and implementation of such an extensive and diverse scientific and educational program has become a rewarding experience. It is important to solve global issues, respond to current challenges, relying on expert opinions and forecasts of the most influential scientists of our time. We gave everyone the opportunity to join the scientific lecture hall, ask questions on urgent topics such as vaccination and job search in times of crisis, about new technologies to combat serious diseases and about global climate change. At the moment, the recordings of all performances are in the public domain. I hope they will be useful both for use as additional educational materials and for self-education purposes,” noted Evgenia Turtapkina, vice-rector for Information Policy of Siberian Federal University.
