Students from the Institute of Oil and Gas launched the first issue of 'Oil Times', a student newspaper.

It will inform students of the university events and of the things happening at 'Rosneft-class', a partner of the Institute. The newspaper was initiated by Albert Salimov and Anna Chebtaeva, second year students from the Institute of Oil and Gas. They were assisted by 15 more students who volunteered to become editors, reporters and photographers. Students developed the newspaper design and content. Five hundred copies were immediately sold out. The newspaper will be published on a monthly basis.

Angelika Landina, an editor of 'Novaya Universitetskaya Zhizn', the university corporate newspaper, strongly supports students' initiative. A new student newspaper was launched at the Institute of Oil and Gas where students 'compete in sports and intellectual activities and do research. The Institute is involved in the professional communities of Russian oil and gas specialists', Angelika says. 'It was quite natural that a new publication was launched in this environment. The student team want to discuss the diversity of their life in their own publication. It's wonderful to see their desire to work and we wish them to keep the drive which might not be too simple'.

Eugenia Turtapkina, deputy Vice-Recor, says that the university media holding tends to be expanding. «We welcome and support student media projects. They attract talented students and become an important channel of information and feedback. They generate ideas and maintain corporate spirit'.
