SibFU student wins Olympic bronze

Mingiyan Semenov, a second-year student from the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the XXX Summer Olympic games in London. His coach is the RF Distinguished coach Michael Gamzin

The twenty two year old athlete won a bronze medal in 55 kg wrestling. He overcame the athletes from the USA, China and South Korea. Although he lost to Rovshan Bayramov, from Azerbaijan, the current world champion in Greco wrestling, Mingiyan Semenov was able to overcome Thomas Mango from the USA, Li Shujin from China and he confidently won a bronze medal competing with Gyujin Choi from South Korea. As a result, SibFU's student contributed another bronze medal to the Russian national team's achievements.

«SibFU's student showed an excellent result at his first Olympic games and he successfully represented the university and this country, — SibFU's rector Eugene Vaganov said. — We hope we will see him winning new medals at the international arena. We believe that Mingiyan Semenov as an athlete and Michael Gamzin as his coach will develop a creative union».
