SibFU receives government support to fund engineering training

SibFU won the award of the President Programme to provide engineering training courses in 2012-2014. The government support is provided to train engineers working in metallurgy and oil or gas fields.

Engineers will receive training within a co-funding scheme. This unique programme point is about funding collaboratively.

«Highly skilled engineers are in great demand. The result is that the government intends to help institutions and businesses in training their employees. It was a competitive selection for the educational institutions where engineers will attend training courses,Victor Kolot, SibFU's Deputy Vice-Rector said. — SibFU offers two programmes: 'Modern Problems of Aluminium Production' and 'Catalytic Processes of Deep Oil Processing'. Government's support as a part of the co-funding scheme is one million roubles».

The RF President directive on training highly skilled engineers in 2012-2014 was issued on 7 May 2012. Educational institutions were competitively selected in November 2012. The President Programme aims at 'improving engineering skills in the fields demanded by businesses and institutions': saving energy and resources, developing nuclear and space industry, developing infrastructure and strategic information technologies, nano industries, defence technology and equipment.

The programme implies a co-funding scheme and the RF Ministry of Education and Research intends to spend 750 million roubles during three years.

The expected outcomes of the programme will include training about 15,000 engineers in Russian educational institutions. The programme will attract research and engineering centres in Russia and abroad to improving engineering skills. It will be a long term partnership in enhancing engineering skills and training new engineering professionals.
