SibFU and MTS telecom operator to start a joint laboratory

Institute of Engineering Physics and Radio Electronics, SibFU, and MTS telecom operator signed a collaboration agreement. MTS will contribute to developing the university's teaching programmes for IT specialists.

In particular, the agreement includes launching a laboratory with 2G and 3G network to study the structure of mobile radio communication (commutators, femtocells and other equipment).

MTS staff will act as consultants in developing teaching programmes in 'ICT and Connection Networks', 'ICT and Information Security', 'Information Security'.

The university students will get placements and do studies for their course papers at MTS' Krasnoyarsk Branch.

«Students with better results in their studies may get a job at MTS company», — Olga Medvedeva, MTS Director for Krasnoyarsk Krai, said.

The collaboration agreement includes building a blog for the Institute's web site to inform students about MTS news, competitions and projects relevant for the university students.

Teaching mobile communication professionals will be done at the Department of ICT. The department's head is Dr Dmitry Chernikov.

It will help students to quickly move from studies to work and it will give them new career paths and professional opportunities», — Gennady Patrin, Director of the Institute of Engineering Physics and Radio Electronics said.
