SibFU's library wins National Competition in Library Innovation

SibFU's Digital Library project won the the first National Competition of Library Innovation.

The competition's award is a scholarship to attend 'Digital Age of Culture' conference in Petrozavodsk (autumn 2013). There were other awards (e-Readers).

«SibFU's Research Library is the only library to be short listed for the competition among university libraries, — SibFU's Vice Rector (Research and International Collaboration) Sergey Verkhovets said. — Winning the competion was an important sign to show that the library is a leading institution for national research and education».

The competition results were announced at the Russian National Library in Moscow on 16 April 2013. Its participants were various Russian libraries.

The competition aimed to find out what administrative, marketing and technological innovations were introduced by national libraries.

There were five key themes to measure innovation efficiency:

  • the importance of innovation;
  • financial efficiency;
  • cultural significance;
  • social importance;
  • global importance.

The competition committee considered 98 applications. The first stage included 15 short listed projects based on independent evaluations. The competition committee to decide on the results included senior administraation from major national libraries.
