Japanese students to learn the art of making bast shoes
Students from Japan that will come for their term abroad at Siberian Federal University are going to attend a class of traditional Russian arts.
Teachers from the State Centre of Traditional Arts will help students to master Russian crafts: poker-work, wickerwork, birch bark crafts, and beading. A unique opportunity to find out more about traditional crafts and their history has been provided to international students with the support from the Ministry of Culture, Krasnoyarsk krai.
Students from Japan came to SibFU from Aichi University. According to the Director of Japanese Centre at SibFULidia Koshkina, academic exchange is happening as a part of the agreement signed in August 2012. The agreement was about the cooperation between SibFU and Aichi University. The programme of internship for Japanese students includes Russian studies and studying Russian culture. The timing of the programme varies from five weeks to six months.
