SibFU's rector congratulates Nikita Melnikov on world championship in Greco-Roman wrestling
SibFU's rector Eugene Vaganov congratulated Nikita Melnikov, student from the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Tourism, SibFU, and his coach Michael Gamzin on Nikita's world championship in Greco-Roman wrestling.
Nikita Melnikov won a golden medal among athletes weighing less than 96 kg at a world championship in Greco-Roman wrestling in Budapest (Hungary).
«I am not indifferent to sports. This athletic achievement is especially exciting. First, it is exciting to see a world champion among Krasnoyarsk citizens. It was 40 years ago that somebody from this city won the title of the world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling. Alexey Shumakov, the then champion, graduated from Krasnoyarsk Polytechnic Institute. He is currently our faculty member. Second, I am proud to be the rector of the university with a champion among its students», — Eugene Vaganov said.
Nikita Melnikov thanked the university administration and his coach for their support. He said he had not been not quite confident in his victory, it was his family and friends who inspired him to win the final fight. His plans for the future depend on his coach decisions. He would be happy to do a master's programme.
Nikita Melnikov invited the university rector to his master class designed to teach secondary school students to do Greco-Roman wrestling at SibFU's premises.
