SibFU to enhance its partnership with Chinese universities

SibFU's representatives visited two Chinese universities to discuss academic mobility and joint research. The universities were Metrpolitan Pedagogical University (Beijing) and Shandong University (Jinan).

SibFU signed the Memorandum of Understanding at the Metropolitan Pedagogical University. According to Elena Kruglikova, Vice Director, Institute of Phylology and Linguistic Communication, SibFU, «the document is open for discussion and further negotiations, currently it lets student mobility programmes between the two universities start in January 2014».

Negotiations at Shandong University outlined some key directions of research and education. «We can efficiently collaborate in biology and ecology, material science, engineering physics, and foreign languages, in particular, in Teaching Russian and Chinese as Foreign Languages», — SibFU's delegation head and Provost (Economic Development) Pavel Vcherashny said. He invited his Chinese colleagues to continue negotiations in Krasnoyarsk.

Shandong University's representatives confirmed their intention to visit SibFU in spring to sign an agreement of collaboration and discuss in detail how faculty and student academic mobility might occur and how joint research might develop.

The first stage of academic exchange will be summer schools in 2014. Chinese students will come to SibFU and SibFU's students will visit Shandong University Weihai Campus.
