Successful experiment of ultrasound data transfer

Researchers from the Institute of Engineering Physics and Radio Electronics, SibFU, and staff members from the Centre of Modern Cardiology successfully transferred an ultrasound image on 12 December 2013.

Ultrasound exams are rarely available to people from small vilalages due to equipment costs and lack of skilled medical staff. The technological solution from the researchers at the Laboratory of Medical Engineering, SibFU, is not at all costly as the equipment for data transfer is many times cheaper than ultrasound equipment. Skilled medical staff can consult patients from Krasnoyarsk using the same equipment.

Head of Research at the Laboratory of Medical Engineering, Institute of Engineering Physics and Radio Electronics, SibFU, Professor Sergey Panko said it was a long term project. «It took a number of years to develop the experiment to support SibFU's framework. Now, people from small towns and villages or a third of Krasnoyarsk krai's population are able to have their internal organs examined by the doctors from a large city without leaving their residences. Technically, distance does not matter, the only thing that is important is electrical connection. The technology is unique and it does not model any approaches.
