Student Tourism Program Development Discussed at Strategic Session in SibFU

The strategic session was held at Siberian Federal University on February 24, 2022. Its participants discussed the priorities of the Student Tourism Program development. The session was headed by Grigory Gurov, the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia.

The Student Tourism Program developed by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science has been extended to 2022. During the strategic session representatives of the Federal Government and youth policy specialists of universities from different regions of the country, defined the main points of the Program development. They included guides training, setting tourist routes, and attracting more participants.

“It’s not a coincidence that we’ve gathered here at SibFU. It is important to extend the developments existing at the universities. We hope to create touristic centers in different federal districts of our country. Our goal now is to open the country for young people and all citizens to explore, and see its diversity,” said the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Grigory Gurov.

During the session, its participants also presented the results of the of the Student Tourism Program implementation in 2021. Grigory Gurov announced the key achievements. Moreover, some students made presentations too. They participated both as hosts and tourists. SibFU is on the list of 15 universities that have become leading sites for the Federal Student Tourism Program. It means that the University is ready to host traveling students from other cities in its campus and dormitories.

“Since its creation the Federal University has been included in the agenda of the social and economic development of the region. So youth policy issues have always been relevant for us. Last year, thanks to infrastructural opportunities, we were among the pilot universities participating in the Student Tourism Development program. Our most significant and fundamental issues are the development of infrastructure contributing to the brand recognition, University openness and youth mobility promotion,” emphasized rector of SibFU Maxim Rumiantsev.

There were Far Eastern and Caucasian Federal Universities, Irkutsk and Altai State Universities, Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering among the discussion participants.

According to the session results, it was decided to create a working group to collect the information about problematic areas and take into account proposals that should be included in the Student Tourism Program season 2022. The working group was headed by the SibFU Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Yekaterina Sidorenko. The start of the new season is scheduled for April 1.
