Delegation from Kazakhstan visits SibFU

On 10-13 October 2022x Siberian Federal University hosted a delegation from the International University of Tourism and Hospitality (Kazakhstan). The guests toured the campus and visited Gastro Forum 2022. They also met the vice-rector and school directors and signed an agreement on for scientific and educational cooperation.

Rector of the Kazakh University Aidos Sakenov said that his university is now rapidly developing the partnerships, and Siberian Federal University is the first Russian higher education institution to establish the business cooperation with.

"We are glad that the first Russian university we are starting cooperation with is Siberian Federal University. Krasnoyarsk has an enormous infrastructure for gastronomic tourism development and the fact that there is a specialized school makes this area especially promising.

Gastornomic tourism in the tourism industry is also one of the priority areas for Kazakhstan, and we plan to open the Faculty of Gastronomy in the next 2-3 years. We hope that we will be able to establish effective work on training highly qualified personnel not only for the post-Soviet areas, but for the whole world together with SibFU School of Gastronomy. Siberian Federal University is an excellent platform for the graduation of internationally recognized professionals. Our students could study for a semester here, at SibFU, while your students — at our university, and such an exchange is likely to be established starting the next academic year. I believe, we can think about a double degree education," Aidos Sakenov noted.

Head of the Department of International Cooperation Anna Mezit, commented on the results of the visit: "International University of Tourism is a modern university. The word international in the title is not a formality — the colleagues are focused on cooperation with universities around the world, so it is very pleasant to become partners. The meeting was attended by the heads of specialized schools, and we productively discussed the points of common interest and outlined the plans. Our next step is working out a detailed roadmap of cooperation for the next 2-3 years."
