NAUKA 0+ Festival at SibFU

Siberian Federal University will host the NAUKA 0+ Festival in Krasnoyarsk on 24 and 25 November 2022. This large-scale educational project aims to popularize science and is one of the key events within the announced Decade of Science and Technology in Russia. At a preliminary press conference, the organizers revealed the details of the upcoming science festival.

This year festival’s theme is Creating the Future. Now we do not merely study the world around us, but can also create the future ourselves. How? — visitors will learn during popular science lectures, interactive exhibitions, virtual laboratories, science films.

“SibFU has been a partner of the festival since 2015, during which time the number of participants in thematic events has grown from 10 to 75 thousand people. Every year the festival presents a new theme which reflects the trends and topical issues of science. The festival will be of interest not only to schoolchildren, but also to scientific organizations, as they will get acquainted with young people who will come to them as colleagues and employees after some time,” said Maksim Rumiantsev, rector of SibFU.

This year will give a novelty — a science cafe where guests of the festival will chat with scientists about biotechnology and astronomy and watch a series of popular science films about the most interesting developments and research of Russian scientists.

“A whole cluster of tasks is solved at the festival venues: career guidance for young people, presentation of the opportunities of the region and Siberian Federal University, and most importantly — a demonstration of the achievements of modern Russian science,” said Denis Gergilyov, deputy minister of Education of Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The general partner of the festival in Krasnoyarsk Territory is En+ Group. The company will present the Energy scientific and educational program developed jointly with Newton Park — Krasnoyarsk Museum of Science. Visitors will learn about renewable energy sources, the principles of operation of hydroelectric power plants, the role of energy in industry and the production of green aluminium.

“This site has already been presented in Irkutsk and Moscow, where it gathered more than 140 thousand people — the topic proved to be interesting not only for children, but also for adults. As part of the festival, the site will work at the Polytechnic School of Siberian Federal University, and anyone can visit it,” says Nadezhda Sevryugina, head of communication and social projects at the Krasnoyarsk HPP of En+ Group.

Also, students of schools will have the opportunity to visit the Resource Centre of the Polytechnic School and take part in engineering master classes.

“The festival has passed through all regions of the country, and Krasnoyarsk Territory is hosting its grand finale of this year. I would like to note that on the initiative of the President of Russia, the events of the Decade of Science and Technology were launched, and its goals intersect with the objectives of the festival — popularization of science and involvement of the broadest masses in it. The regional site of Krasnoyarsk reveals these nuances very well, using theoretical and practical elements,” says Leonid Gusev, head of the Directorate of the NAUKA 0+ Festival, vice-rector of Moscow State University.
