SibFU student is a world record holder!

Last weekend Konstantin Zotov, SibFU student became the World Champion in Fin swimming and set a world record!
The XVth Fin swimming World Championship was held on August 22 - 29, 2009 in St. Petersburg (Russia). Konstantin Zotov competed in the 50 - metres surface bifins and won silver medal. He also won gold medal in the 100 - metres surface bifins. Konstantin Zotov repeated the world record of the Italian sportsman Stefano Rampaco and broke it in the final relay. It should be noted that Konstantin broke the world records twice in the 50-100 metres surface bifins at the Russian Championship but his sport achievements were disallowed as there was no drug test at the competition.

Konstantin Zotov is a 3 – year student of Physical Education and Sports Department of Siberian Federal University. He is the International Master of Sport in Swimming.

Fin swimming is the progression of a swimmer using monofins or normal swimfins (called bifins or stereofins within the sport) either on the water surface or underwater, using only muscle strength. It is a discipline of underwater sports.
