Scientists of the SibFU Polytechnic Institute were awarded for meritorious work in quality assurance of Russian goods at the City Administration of Krasnoyarsk on December 22, 2009.

Their projects reached the finals of the Contest Programme called «The best 100 products of Russia».

It is necessary to recall that the staff of the R&D Centre of Magnetic Hydrodynamics elaborated, designed and manufactured holding resistance furnace i.e. alloying furnace capable to produce aluminum-base alloy and stir hot metal in the volume of 15 - 100 tons. The unique projects of the SibFU scientists elaborated to produce aluminum enable to increase alloy quality and capacity of foundry units. SibFU scientists have already implemented more than 15 similar ready-to-operate units on Bratsk aluminum plant, Novokuznetsk aluminum plant, Irkutsk aluminum plant and Sayanogorsk aluminum plant. At the present time, 19 holding furnaces are constructed at the Taishet and Boguchan aluminum plants. The staff of the R&D Centre of Magnetic Hydrodynamics also succeeded in developing more than 40 MHD aluminum mixers. Two of them were successfully implemented in Canada and France where the world presentation of MHD mixer operation took place. Representatives of almost all Top Ten Primary Aluminum Producing Countries participated in the presentation.

Roman M. Khristinich and Viktor N. Timofeev, professors of the SibFU Polytechnic Institute were also awarded with diplomas for significant contribution to the Krasnoyarsk science.
