Silver medal at the Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding (Germany)

The next stage turned out to be successful for the national team as one of its representatives reached the victory podium in Ruhpolding (Germany).

 Olga Medvedtseva showed excellent shooting and succeeded in competing with the World Cup favorites.

When competitions in Oberhof was finished, Russian biathletes went on touring around Germany and settled in Ruhpolding. The fourth stage of the World Cup was traditionally opened by Women 7,5 km Sprint.

Russian biathletes did their best to compete in the sprint with just several shooting lanes. Olga Medvedtseva directed all her efforts at the shooting lanes and did not miss out a chance to win.

Olga Medvedtseva successfully hit all targets with 1 min. 4 sec. time spent on shooting. She also increased the lead in spite of the fact that she completed the last lap worse than two previous ones. Having finished with the best shooting result, she placed the new result bar in the competition.

Magdalena Neuner, German professional biathlete missed competitions in Oberhof but claimed to beat Olga Medvetseva’s overall time. After competitions in Ostersund, she continued to make speed records. Six-time World Champion missed two targets in standing shooting and completed last lap 20 seconds behind Olga Medvetseva.

Anna Carin Olofsson-Zidek finished in a time of 1:17:31 in the fourth World Cup meeting of the season. Defending Olympic Champions Olga Medvetseva could only manage a silver medal 16.7 seconds behind with 2002 Olympic silver medallists Norway finishing in third.
