SibFU scientists to teach computer how to define sentiment

The 19th European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI 2010) was held in Lisbon, Portugal, between August 16-20, 2010. The Workshop on Computational Approaches to Subjectivity and Sentiment Analysis (WASSA) was held in conjunction with the ECAI 2010 Joint Conference.

Taras Zagibalov, Associate Professor of the SibFU Department of East-Asian Languages made a report called «Comparable English-Russian Book Review Corpora for Sentiment Analysis» at the Workshop. The report was devoted to newly-produced comparable corpora of book reviews in English and Russian.

Katerina Belyatskaya, SibFU student made a significant contribution to the corpora development in her graduate thesis supervised by Taras Zagibalov. The thesis was highly approved in terms of interdisciplinary research and scientific novelty as the automatic sentiment classification elaborated to analyze texts was presented for the first time.
