University research delivered online to high school children from Krasnoyarsk Krai

Professor Valentina Kratasyuk, head of SibFU's biophysics department will deliver the talk 'Skills for the Future' at the Regional Institute for Higher Training in Education on February 15, 2012.

The lecture is the fist event in a series of public talks for the regional programme 'Gifted children of Krasnoyarsk Krai' initiated by the Governor Lev Kuznetsov. The lectures will be delivered online to the resource centres working with gifted children in Achinsk, Kansk, Minusinsk, Dudinka. High school students will get answers to their questions in real time. According to organizers, the lectures will not only discuss modern reserarch, they will guide high school students in choosing their future professions.

Schoolchildren will be able to listen to other lectures delivered by the researchers of Siberian Federal University: associate professor Igor Sushkin, head of radioelectronic systems department; professor Alexander Savchenko, head of the department of applied ecology and natural resource studies; professor Olga Tarasova from the department of ecology and environmental studies.

Every year SibFU researchers meet high school students at open days and festivals for prospective undergraduate students. In addition, university president Alexander Uss initiated the project of public lectures for high school children in September 2010. Fifty faculty members from Siberian Federal University gave popular lectures at secondary schools in Krasnoyarsk, Sosnovoborsk and Divnogorsk.
