Vladimir Baranov is appointed as Director, Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science

SibFU Rector Eugene Vganov approved the appointment of Vladimir Baranov, deputy director of the university's research and development department, as Director, Insitute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science, on 15 March 2012. Vladimir Baranov's predecessor was Natalia Gafurova who has been recently appointed as Vice-Rector, Academic Affairs.

Eugene Vaganov acknowledged Natalia Gafurova's efficient work as the Institute's Director and said that his hopes were for improving the achievements of the university's academic affairs.

«Vladimir Baranov is a young and promising executive Eugene Vaganov said His appointment is in line with the university's human resource policy to attract young and talented academics to executive posts. This appointment agrees well with the appointments at the Institute for the Humanities and Polytechnic Institute».

SibFU's Rector mentioned the new director's achievements in research and said that «Vladimir Baranov spent some time as deputy director of the university's research and development department and he has a lot of experience of working with SibFU's strategic partners (in particular, Polyus Gold, Norilsk Nickel, RUSAL). The experience of collaboration with major financial and industrial groups is quite important and it will be needed for managing the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science where establishing and maintaining partnerships with businesses is a priority».
