Siberian Federal University

The Boards of Trustees for Siberian Federal University and Southern Federal University met on April 24 in Moscow. The meeting was chaired by the boards' president Dmitry Medvedev.

Creating a network of federal universities presents a series of challenges which were discussed at the meeting. Professor Eugene Vaganov SFU's rector spoke on the university's programme of development and on the challenges facing the university.

Dmitry Medvedev spoke on the prospective network of federal universities and on applying the two universities' experience to creating future educational institutions.

One of the establishments to be created within Siberian Federal University is the Strategic Research Centre of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
