The official ceremony of launching the construction of the new halls of residence was held in Siberian Federal University. The ceremony was attended by Aleksander Uss, SibFU President, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk territory, Evgeny Vaganov, SibFU Rector, Ekaterina Sidorenko, Chairman of the SibFU Student Primary Trade Union Organization, Students of the SibFU Building Group and representatives of the construction organization.
Scott Rice, Second Secretary of the Political Section of the U.S. Embassy in Russia visited Siberian Federal University. He had an excursion around the campus, held the meeting with the senior management and students of the University.
Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation held the meeting with scientists who were among the winners of the monetary fellowship of the Government of the Russian Federation designed to support research projects. 33 scientists from universities in the USA, Japan, Britain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and other countries took part in the discussion with Dmitry Medvedev.
The joint project of SibFU - TV and TV-Company «Enisey-Region» was represented at the Toronto Russian Film Festival (Canada) held on May 12 – 16, 2011. The documentary film included in «Two Civilizations» cycle of Valentina Varaksina, SibFU – TV Chief Editor and faculty member of Department of Journalism (the SibFU Institute of Philology and Language Communication) was showcased within the Festival program.
The results of the Open Public All-Russian Contest «A Higher School of Healthy Lifestyle» were summarized on May 03, 2011. Siberian Federal University was awarded in the contest nomination «Establishment and Promotion of Healthy Lifestyle Values in a Higher School via Creativity and Social Advertisement».
Committee of the European Council for Business Education (ЕСВЕ) recommended 4 SibFU educational programs in the field of economics to be accredited for 3 years. The international accreditation shows that the bachelor and master degree programs in economics and management meet the challenges of the Bologna process.
