SibFU to win the mega grant competition

On September 21, 2011, the Grants Council of the Government of the Russian Federation revealed the names of 39 scientists - the winners of the second open grant competition of the Government of the Russian Federation designed to support research projects implemented by leading scientists at Russian institutions of higher learning.

Bio fuel from bottom mud

The research project on bio fuel production of the Siberian Federal University and the Institute of Biophysics SB RAS was supported by the Fundamental Research Program of the RAS Presidium. The scientists suggested using the bottom mud as a raw material for biodiesel production.

SibFU admission campaign-2011: the plan is realized

The results of the admission campaign – 2011 were summarized in Siberian Federal University. The SibFU Order on undergraduates’ enrollment was signed on August 05, 2011. The admission plan for state-subsidized education was realized and 4961 people became full-time students. Valentin Zhuravlev, Deputy Chairman of the SibFU Admission Commission pointed out: «There are no state-funded places left in any SibFU Institutes».

Silver medal at the Rock Climbing World Cup

Anna Tsyganova, student of the SibFU Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism won silver medals in the «Women speed» section at the IFSC Climbing World Championship (Arco, Italy) and at the European Youth Cup (Chamonix, France) held on July 10-15, 2011.

International program for the would-be metallurgical engineers to start up

The 10 best alumni of the SibFU Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science were selected to continue their education in one of the prestigious French engineering schools. Due to the joint educational program of the GEM (Groupe des Ecoles des Mines) network and Siberian Federal University, SibFU students will be able to get technical and scientific expertise from highly qualified professors, researchers, and professionals.
