Second National IT Festival at Siberian Federal University

Siberian Federal University will stage the Second National IT Festival "World broader than 17 inches" on 11-12 October 2008. The festival will present trends and achievements in IT industry and promote an IT laboratory as a vehicle for creativity and industrial achievements of the future.

Formal reception in honour of SFU's representatives at Durham University

Professor Christopher Higgins, Vice-Chancellor, Durham University hosted an evening reception at the University College in honour of the university guests from Siberian Federal University. The reception was attended by Alexey Kulakov, Russian Vice-Consul in Edinburgh, sports representatives (Durham University), lecturers from the Department of Russian, School of Modern Languages and Cultures, Durham University, Russian and British players. The attendees were greeted by Professor Higgins and Professor Kakukhin.

Second Award at the National Competition

Dr E.I. Shishatskaya, Associate Professor from the Department of Biotechnology, Institute of Fundamental Biology and Biotechnology, SFU, won second place at the Russian National Evaluation Stage of B. Braun International Competition "The Future of Sutures". The award was received for a co-authored paper on resorbable sutures.

A win over Shadforth Plough, Durham Sunday Football League

SFU's football team, Russian University Champions, played a match with Shadforth Plough, Durham Sunday Football League at Maiden Castle on September 25. The game ended with a 2:1 win over Shadforth Plough. The next scheduled match is between SFU's team and Durham University football team on September 26.
