Public lecture on Khakas lakes

Event date:

Denis Rogozin, senior researcher from the Institute of Biophysics, Russian academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch, will speak at SibFU on 24 May 2013. The lecture is about paleolimnology and the lakes of Khakasia as the archives of climate change.

The lecture is a part of SibFU's 'Enlightenment' series.

Denis Rogozin will speak about the findings of Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk researchers on decoding the lake Shira sediments. He will also review the literature on the subject. Paleolimnological research seems to show that lakes are a trendy object for paleo reconstructions.

  • What lakes give the highest amount of information?
  • What can be found in their 'archives'?
  • How does paleolimnology use the archival records obtained from lakes to study climate change?

The questions will be answered in the lecture.
