Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation officially opened the newest building of the SibFU Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering on September 1, 2010.

Igor Sechin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Andrey Fursenko, Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Lev Kuznetsov, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk territory, Sergey Bogdanchikov, President of ОАО «NK Rosneft», Evgeny Vaganov, Rector of Siberian Federal University, Nikolai Dovzhenko, Vice-Rector and Director of the SibFU Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, etc. took part in the opening ceremony. Addressing to the 1st-year students of the SibFU Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, Vladimir Putin pointed out: «I think that the Institute will become the source of pride not only for Siberian Federal University but also for the oil and gas industry which is considered to be the reason for establishing it and for the whole educational system of the country». http://premier.gov.ru/events/news/11987/

Vladimir Putin and Nikolai Dovzhenko buried the time capsule with the message for the next generation students of the Institute.

The exhibition was organized in the hall of the building where the Chairman had the opportunity to look through the stands with the information about the history of establishment of the Institute and goals and objectives for its development. The new building is equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities. There are 66 laboratories and seminar class rooms, 26 lecture halls and 17 class rooms for special subjects. The project is financed within the framework of the Public Private Partnership: ОАО Rosneft (890 million rubles), Federal Education Agency (740 million rubles), Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory (125 million rubles).

Nikolai Dovzhenko, Vice-Rector and Director of the SibFU Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering said that 300 prospective students were enrolled this year and the first priority admission contest was 2,26 people in situ.

The scientific laboratories specially equipped with the newest up-to-date facilities were also showcased for the Chairman. In particular, scientists of the Institute presented the project of the catalyst system for oil refining enabling to increase fuel ecological compatibility and oil processing depth from 75% to 83%. They also presented the project enabling to get 1,5 times more hard-wearing and time proof asphalt coat elaborating with the help of the oil offal - sulphur.

At the end of excursion, the special equipment devoted to accident sensing and elimination on the drilling sites was showcased for the Chairman. Vladimir Putin pointed out: «It’s good that you have the newest base». The equipment meets the standards of the real drilling unit to the limit. The student demonstrating the equipment said that the knowledge gained while applying the equipment helped him at the drilling unit during summer practical training.
