On September 20, 2011, Oxford University Rugby Football Club (OURFC) delegation visited Siberian Federal University. The Oxford team will have a match with SibFU rugby club, and also a series of other matches in Krasnoyarsk and Achinsk.

An official meeting was attended by the President of Siberian Federal University, Alexander Uss, the Rector of SibFU, Evgeny Vaganov and the Manager for international relations of the Russian professional rugby league, Dmitry Afinogenov. The British delegation was represented by OURFC General Manager, Tim Stevens and the captain of the team John Carter.

Tim Stevens pointed out that the tour in Krasnoyarsk is the culminating point of preparation for their crucial season match with Cambridge University rugby team (Varsity Match), which will be held on the 8th of December. "For the full development of sports talent our guys need match practice, particularly of the international level", he said. "Participation in the Russian Premier League is a great experience for us. This visit is also regarded as an opportunity for establishing long and fruitful relations between SibFU and Oxford University."

"The opportunity of sparring with such a famous and award-winning rugby team as OURFC is a huge success for us. The benefits of this friendly match are obvious. The result of the match itself is not so important: if we lose, we will be defeated by Oxford team that, perhaps, will soon defeat Cambridge University team. If we win, then, we will defeat the possible winners of the Varsity match, and it’s worth its weight in gold", said the rector of SibFU Evgeny Vaganov.

Rugby match between OURFC and SibFU rugby team will be held today, on September, 21, at 17:00, at the "Krasniy Yar" stadium (Maerchaka, 57).
