FILA Delegation to SibFU

FILA (International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles) delegation visited SibFU on January, 27, 2012, meeting Governor Lev Kuznetsov.

Nineteen FILA Bureau members visited Krasnoyarsk to hold FILA pre-Olympic meeting and take part in the Ivan Yarygin's International Grand Prix Freestyle and Women's Wrestling Tournament.

According to the Governor, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling is the most successful sport in Krasnoyarsk Krai. The Governor mentioned other sports, apart from wrestling, actively developed in in the region. Much attention has been paid to student sports. «Russian Government and President Dmitry Medvedev, in particular, trusted us with a right to compete for becoming a site of 2019 winter sports competition among universities. It is a great honour. This is the reason to show you the project of sport infrastructure development», — Lev Kuznetsov said.

The delegation saw the project of Winter Sports Academy. According to Sergey Gurov, Sport, Tourism and Youth Affairs Minister, a part of its objects will be transferred to Siberian Federal University after 2019 sporting event.

FILA President Raphael Martinetti supported the idea to create an International Wrestling Centre within the Academy. The Centre migh become«a Wrestling Academy to train wrestlers and coaches», said Raphael Martinetti.
