Siberian Federal University

The university celebrated the first spring festival, inviting faculty and staff to its stadium on March 9, 2008. The staff was welcomed by Professor Valentin Zhuravlev, Vice-Rector (Undergraduate Core Programmes). The guests of the festival enjoyed riding horses, eating pancakes, buckwheat porridge and hot tea, listening to brass band music and watching a concert show. Children took part in ski and relay racing. The festival ended with the burning of a stuffed figure of maslenitsa, a symbol that this year's winter is almost gone.
