SFU's Ph.D. student presented Russian good practices of juvenile justice system at a conference in Verona

A Ph.D. student from Siberian Federal University attended a conference on good practices in different national juvenile justice systems in Verona, Italy from 13 to 15 March, 2008. V.G. Kaminsky, a researcher from the Department of Criminology and Law of Torts, discussed the university's experience of involving students and teachers from the Faculty of Law in rehabilitating young offenders.

The conference highlighted the results of the second part of the project Juvenile Justice Systems in Europe — current situation, reform developments and good practices. The project is funded by European Commission (Justice and Home Affairs). The first stage of the project was discussed in 2007 in Germany. The results of Russian practices were presented by Professor Shchedrin, Chair of the Department of Criminology and Law of Torts.

Learning about European experience of good practices in juvenile justice systems is especially useful for Russia where the system is being reformed and new ways of rehabilitating young offenders are being introduced.
