Siberian Federal University

Mikhail Prokhorov’s Fund together with the Krasnoyarsk Territory Administration and Krasnoyarsk City Administration in partnership with the “Krasnoyarsk Fair” Exhibition Company and “Siberia” International Exhibition Business Centre holds second Annual Book Fair during the period from 5th till 9th of November, 2008.
During this period of time Krasnoyarsk city will host the massive gathering of the best Russian publishing houses, representatives of the leading Russian universities and book-agents. Total 114 participants have been registered. The Embassy of France in the Russian Federation, Consulate General of Poland and Krasnoyarsk Territory Government will be presented in the separate exposition.
Siberian Federal University as the center for scientific book culture will present its own program at the Fair :
• November 6, Round Table Discussion devoted to establishing Siberian Association of University Editors.
Siberian Federal University as initiator of this discussion suggests that Siberian Association of University Editors should be established in order to widen the universities’ editing net. Right now the centers for university editing are Moscow and Saint Petersburg but the situation should be changed due to formation of federal universities.
• November 7, “New in copyright legislation” seminar
The seminar will be devoted to such issues as “Legal relations of editors and authors”, “Legal relations of authors and translators”, “License and sublicense agreements” and “Ways to protect author’s rights”.
Аnna Lukyanova, expert in copyright legislation in the program of the “Open Society” Institute of the Soros Fund during the period from 1999 till 2003, faculty member at the Department of Editors and Publishers Retraining at the University of Printing Arts will read lectures on topical problems of copyright legislation. SibFU as the organizer of the seminar has an educating initiative. On January 1, 2008 the Copyright Law was abolished and 4th part of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation came into effect, therefore many editors still don’t know new legislation properly.
• November 7, Presentation of SibFU editing activity: SibFU Journal, SibFU Journal Library
The objective of Siberian Federal University is to move to international level in scientific and educational fields. One of the strategic objectives is to establish the scientific journal which will be included in the JCR ISI base (impact factor).
• November 8, Presentation of the University newspaper “New University Life” and small editions of the SibFU Institutes
The exposition of Siberian Federal University will be functioning during the whole event and will present editing complex of SibFU, as well as printing products.
