Siberian Federal University and IBS - company have finished the project concerning the creation of the unique system of education for students of economical specialties. Due to the introduction of state-of-the-art information technologies in the process of education, students will manage to understand modern approaches, which are necessary for running a company, equally they will manage to get some working experience with the most commonly spread business applications.
The project was implemented in terms of SibFU innovative educational programme. It is devoted to the production of courseware which simulates activities of companies’ information systems. With the aim of getting to know the subject area inside out, the process of education will be based on case-by-case strategy. After getting such practical training, students will be able to complement their theoretical knowledge with the essential working experience in management systems, thus they will be more confident on the labor market. Siberian Federal University is also expected to organize qualification courses and provide education for remote users on the basis of the system.
The system called «Internetwork of university labs» is explicated in the Institute of Economics, Management and Environmental Studies of Siberian Federal University. More than 2000 students study at the Institute of Economics, Management and Environmental Studies. Annually, more than 400 people graduate from the Institute of Economics, Management and Environmental Studies. Due to the realization of the project, there was made the technological and educational infrastructure to implement new forms of education, enhance the quality, availability and interactivity of education. Education materials were elaborated by SibFU educators in association with IBS experts. The system has already been brought into operation and there was made the presentation of its opportunities for staff-members and senior management of Siberian Federal University. From the beginning of the new term, studies using the new system are planned to be included in a time-table of senior students.
«There is an experience of special IT system utilization in the process of education of many institutions, however, down to recent times there were no complex educational systems capable for providing with the entire notion of the ways of modern companies’ management. Siberian Federal University is one of the first pioneer in this area», - points out Pavel M. Vcherashny, vice-rector – Economics and Finance of SibFU.
Internetwork of university labs elaborated by IBS – company includes specialized and applied programme applications from such promising areas of economical and management practices as:
Corporate Performance Management (CPM);
Business Intelligence (BI);
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP);
Customer Relationship Management (CRM);
Financial consolidation;
Project Management (PM);
Computer-aided Software Engineering (CASE);
Situational study centre.
The system enables to provide educational process with the possibility of access from any computer through the university network or the World Wide Web. Internetwork possibilities allow making centralized planning, control and evaluation of educational process. Educators are able to organize a study time-table, add processing power, store test results and keep academic ranking in the system. The possibilities of producing and storing electronic study materials are realized. The system is based on the virtualization technology which helps to simplify infrastructure management and reduce maintenance cost on its support.
«It’s very important that this innovative project is realized in Krasnoyarsk. The new system allows us to make qualitative personnel reserve for regional companies. On the basis of the system, we are able to train qualified specialists even in such new areas of Russian management practice as the construction of budgeting complex systems and Balanced Scorecard, the organization of International Accounting Standards (IAS), etc. Not all experienced economists can boast of having such knowledge. Our undergraduates will be not only theoretically-trained, but they will also manage to be familiar with the possibilities of management systems and get some experience when working with them», - says Pavel M. Vcherashny.
Project budget was more than 100 million rubles.
