The presentation of new experimental-industrial device was held on the 5th of March, 2009 on Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter (RUSAL). The new inductor will be operated in Novelis, Saguenay, QC (Canada). The new experimental-industrial device is planned to be shipped to the customer at the beginning of March, 2009.
So how to ship 100 tons of molten metal? Scientists of SibFU Innovation Center have solved this problem. They have elaborated the unique mixer for metal which helps to triple the efficiency of cast-melting device and improve the alloy quality.
Nowadays, no metallurgical production in Russia is possible without magneto-hydrodynamic mixer of Siberian Federal University. Owing to efforts of SibFU scientists, more than 40 similar devices have been implemented on Sayanogorsk Aluminium Smelter, Bratsk Aluminium Smelter, Novokuznetsk Aluminium Smelter, Irkutsk Aluminium Smelter, Krasnoyarsk Metallurgical Plant, etc. Many foreign metallurgists are interested in the mixer. According to license agreement with ALTEK MDY Company (USA), more efficient construction of mixer has been elaborated.
