Cisco Networking Academy opened in the Institute of Space and Information Technology of Siberian Federal University offers the Cisco CCNA Discovery curriculum to prepare students for the CCNA exam – Cisco Certified Network Associate.

The curriculum offers a hands-on approach to learn and use interactive tools and easy-to-follow labs to help students to learn the general theory needed to build networks. Students are able to get foundational networking knowledge and practical experience in terms of configuring and installation of switches and Cisco Routers in the Multiprotocol Transport Network which unites local area network / wide area network. What’s more, students learn how to test and troubleshoot networks as well as upgrade and maintain software and active equipment. And finally they get acquainted with the safety rules, construction rules and environmental legislation on the local and federal level.

Certified trainers use teaching materials of the Cisco Systems to make their course more innovative and appealing. The Cisco Testing System comprises a lot of interactive exams and practical works to improve and evaluate teaching process and results of studies.

The Academy will be officially opened for all comers in autumn, 2009.

A group of students will be formed to take up the CCNA curriculum which includes basic mitigation of security threats, introduction to wireless networking concepts and terminology, and performance-based skills. This new curriculum also includes (but is not limited to) the use of these protocols: IP, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Serial Line Interface Protocol Frame Relay, Routing Information Protocol Version 2 (RIPv2), VLANs, Ethernet, access control lists (ACLs). The course is based on materials needed for passing the current CCNA exam.

Course duration is 280 hours (2 terms). SibFU students and students from other universities are able to combine the CCNA curriculum with the ordinary studies as the course will be held at convenient time.

After completing the CCNA studies, students get the CCNA certifications which are valid for three years and 70% discount for the CCNA exam.
