ECEL 2009: 8th European Conference on e-Learning

The SibFU Institute of Education, Psychology and Sociology participated in the 8th European Conference on e-Learning which took place on October 29-30, 2009 in Bari, Italy. Prof. Olga Smolyaninova, Director of IEPS and Tatyana Ryzhkova presented a paper named “New Technologies in Siberia: e-Portfolio for Student Evaluation and Professional Development”. Their participation in the conference and paper presentation were supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York: University Administration Support Program of the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX).

The technology of e-portfolio in education is being widely discussed by professionals of different countries as it offers a range of opportunities in the field of development, evaluation, and assessment. At the same time the technology requires high teaching, evaluation, assessment standards and abilities.

The paper of the SibFU teachers raised great interest among colleagues from New Zealand, United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark and other countries, who also shared their experience in using e-portfolio technologies. The SibFU Institute of Education, Psychology and Sociology is planning to apply the information obtained at the conference as well as develop the contacts set there.
