SibFU Professor to be awarded with the Order of Honour posthumously

Alexander S. Gorelik, Honoured Jurist of the Russian Federation was awarded with the Order of Honour posthumously for “significant contribution to the human rights and freedom protection” at the Human Rights Day which is celebrated annually across the world on December 10.

Mark Denisov, Commissioner for Human Rights in Krasnoyarsk Region made the decision to honor the SibFU Professor posthumously and recognize his remarkable merits as a founder of the Krasnoyarsk Committee for Human Rights Protection. Dmitry A. Gorelik, son of the human rights activist was bestowed with the Order of Honour.

Alexander S. Gorelik (1931—2007), Professor, Doctor of Juridical Science was the Honoured Jurist of the Russian Federation, Founder and Chairman of the Krasnoyarsk Committee for Human Rights Protection till 2007, Associate member of SB RAS.
From 1997 to 2002, He was the head of the Criminal Law Department of the SibFU Law Institute. He published his articles and aired his views in national, local newspapers and journals. He became famous in Russia and abroad because of his human rights protection activities.
He trained many jurists during his 40-year teaching career. The majority of law officers of Krasnoyarsk Region are his former students.
