A model for training engineers at Siberian Federal University has been recognized as the most successful educational practice in Russia based on the results of the 2021–2022 academic year. The model of systemic changes in multilevel engineering education was implemented within the framework of the federal innovation platform (FIP) and can now be scaled both at SibFU and atother universities of Russia.

Norilsk Nickel, the leader of the mining and metallurgical industry in Russia, provided SibFU with funding for the purchase of 50 relevant scientific books from the world's leading publishers — a collection Sustainability: Green Design.

On 23 December 2021, Siberian Federal University hosted the award ceremony for the winners of the 3rd UN Siberian Model. About 50 students took part in the role-playing game simulating the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council.

SibFU's scientists and their colleagues from the South China University of Technology (Guangzhou, China), using the Random Forest machine learning method, have analyzed the dependence of the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) on the crystal structure of existing metal halides.

In autumn 2021, Open Education Center of the School of Philology and Language Communication received grant support from the Ministry of Education for conducting online courses on Russian as a foreign language and in-person testing on TORFL-I, as well as creating textbooks for the courses.

We are summing up the results of 2021, declared the Year of Science and Technology in Russia.

Arkady Efimov, Vladimir Krinin and Viktor Sibgatulin, employees of the School of Petroleum and Gas Engineering, Siberian Federal University, became laureates of the State Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology. The prize was awarded for creation and development of the raw material base of hydrocarbons in Eastern Siberia and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The Department for International Cooperation has summed up the results of the year and presented them to the university.

17 December 2021, Siberian Federal University held the trials of catapults, wind turbines and lighting fixtures within the Engineering Start, an annual CDIO bachelor’s degree student competition. The whole semester, the students invented, designed, and assembled devices according to the terms of reference.

The SibFU delegation is now in Sochi, which is holding a series of large-scale events on 6-10 December 2021 completing the Year of Science and Technology in Russia. The delegation includes 10 young scientists who have achieved significant results, each in their own field of research. The head of the delegation is Ruslan Baryshev, SibFU's vice-rector for research.
